On the occasion of the publication of the “Pastoral Guidelines for Marriage Preparation and the Family” by the Italian Bishops’ Conference, in the interview here on the side, the Secretary of the Dicastery Mons. Laffitte emphasizes some particularly important aspects of the Italian text and reports on the preparation of the “Vademecum in preparazione al matrimonio” (Handbook for Marriage Preparation) which will probably come out in 2014.

“Educare all’amore e accompagnare nel percorso del fidanzamento sembrano, oggi, imprese particolarmente difficili, per alcuni, addirittura, improponibili, ritenendo che i mutamenti culturali e sociali siano tali da mettere radicalmente in discussione l’esistenza stessa dell’istituto del matrimonio”.
