“Il vangelo della famiglia nel dibattito sinodale - Oltre la proposta del cardinal Kasper” (The Gospel of the Family in the Synod’s Discussion – Beyond to the proposal of Cardinal Kasper) is the title of a book written by Stephan Kampowski, Professor of Philosophical Anthropology at the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family, and Juan José Pérez-Soba, Professor of pastoral theology of marriage and the family at the same Institute. This work will be presented on Friday, October 3rd, at 5:30, pm in the Auditorium of the Pontifical John Paul II Institute (Piazza San Giovanni in Laterano), in a meeting chaired by the journalist Sandro Magister. The speakers will be Sergio Belardinelli, Professor at the University of Bologna; Gabriella Gambino, Tor Vergata University; and Cardinal George Pell, Prefect of the Vatican Secretariat for the Economy, who wrote the preface of the volume.
"We’ve taken as the reference for the question Cardinal Kasper’s book: 'The Gospel of the family', which indeed contains important reflections, but also—in our opinion—significant inaccuracies," write the authors. "Our contribution intends to develop the positive elements, help to clarify the ambiguous ones, and expose the reasons why some statements seem incorrect, but more importantly, go beyond that book." They added: "Going beyond Kasper means inviting to take the step that he has not taken, that is move from a description of the beauty of the Gospel of the family to its transforming capacity in the pastoral care of the Church, the moral subject and the surrounding culture."
