In the cathedral of Alcalá de Henares, a vigil to celebrate Saint Valentine‘s Day
A prayer vigil for engaged and married couples, but also for families with difficulties, and separated or divorced, single, widowed or consecrated persons. This is the proposal of Msgr. Anton Juan Reig, Bishop of Alcalá de Henares, for Saint Valentine‘s Day. At 9:00 pm, the cathedral will host the vigil "for all to learn to love and grow in love," say the promoters.
During the celebration (www.obispadoalcala.org/sanvalentin.html) the faithful will also pray for human life from conception to natural death, and the Bishop will bless all mothers present. Love, marriage and family pastoral themes are at the heart of the activity of the diocese and of its Bishop, who presented, at the University Francisco de Vitoria in Madrid, the book "Eucaristia e Divorzio: Verso un Cambiamento della Dottrina?" (Eucharist and Divorce: Towards a Change of Doctrine?) written by Fr. José Granados Garcia, consultant to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and vice president of the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family in Rome. Finally, on the site of the Diocese of Alcalá de Henares, there is a special section entitled "Words of Love": www.obispadoalcala.org/palabrasdeamor.html.
