There is already intense communication between the Dicastery for the Laity, the Family and Life and Panama‘s Local Organizing Committee in view of the 2019 World Youth Day, to be held in that Central American city.
On 7 and 8 November, at the Dicastery‘s office, the first working meeting was held in preparation for the next world gathering of the young. The delegation from Panama, led by Archbishop José Domingo Ulloa Mendieta, met the new Prefect and Cardinal, Kevin Farrell, and officials of the Dicastery who are working on the event. The next meeting will be held on 5 December, in the City of Panama, where the delegation of the Dicastery for the Laity, the Family and Life—composed of Cardinal Farrell, Father João Chagas and Marcello Bedeschi, President of the John Paul II Youth Foundation—will inspect the site and meet with the city‘s civil authorities to learn more about the Panamanian reality.
