The Eighth World Meeting of Families introduced officially at the Vatican Press Office
“Philadelphia is a great city, an important place to gather families from the whole world.” Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, President of the Pontifical Council for the Family, was enthusiastic as he presented to the media the Eighth World Meeting of Families and the city that will host it from the 22nd to the 27th of September, 2015. During the press conference, where Archbishop Charles Chaput of Philadelphia spoke as well, the President of the Council, quoting Pope Francis, highlighted the three ideas that will inspire the event. “What we will do is be with families on their path with a shepherd’s care that is ‘wise,’ ‘brave’ and ‘full of love’: Wisdom in understanding what families face today, bravery in taking on today’s many and complex problems; and love in helping to resolve those problems in the light of the Gospel of the Family and of Life.” After speaking of the numerous initiatives undertaken by the Council in recent months, Archbishop Paglia extended an invitation to all people of good will to come to the 2015 Meeting: “We would also hope to see a broad and active presence from the other Christian Churches and communities, as well as from representatives of the world’s other Great Religions, together with other men and women who, though not religious, are committed to bringing peace and good will to our world.”
