Msgr. Paglia in Belgium for a meeting on the family and globalized society
On Monday 26 May, at 20.00 at the Church of Saint James in Liegi, Msgr. Vicenzo Paglia, President of the Pontifical Council for the Family, will present on the theme of the gospel of the family in a globalized world.
The presentation of the President, entitled “Christian Family?”, will focus on the upcoming synod on the family, and will illustrate the link that exists today between individualization and globalization in society. Msgr. Paglia observes that in a society structurally uncertain in terms of its bonds, it becomes increasingly difficult to trust in others. He notes as well then that stable relationships, seen as impossible, are not those to seek after. Msgr. Paglia explains that if in the depth of the human soul there exists a desire for stability, this is cut down soon after discovery of it, and contemporary globalization transfers this tendency to the world-wide level. He shows that what is thus globalized are the market and individualism – two elements that fit perfectly to one another – rather than the solidarity that urges one to place the common good at the horizon of personal choice.”
