The Preparatory Document for October’s Extraordinary General Assembly was presented this morning in the Holy See Press Office
"The Pastoral Challenges of the Family in the Context of Evangelization" is the title of the Instrumentum Laboris of the III Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, which was presented at a press conference this morning in the John Paul II Conference Hall of the Holy See Press Office. The document was explained by Cardinal Lorenzo Baldisseri, Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops, by Cardinal Peter Erdő, Archbishop of Esztergom-Budapest (Hungary) and the Assembly’s General Rapporteur, by the President delegate, Cardinal André Vingt-Trois, Archbishop of Paris, and by Msgr. Bruno Forte, Archbishop of Chieti-Vasto.
The document, divided into three parts: "Communicating the Gospel of the Family in Today’s World," "The Pastoral Program for the Family in Light of New Challenges" and "An Openness to Life and Parental Responsibility in Upbringing", explores, in nine chapters, the following topics: "God’s Plan for Marriage and the Family," "The Knowledge and Acceptance of the Teachings on Marriage and the Family from Sacred Scripture and Church Documents," "The Gospel of the Family and the Natural Law," "The Family and Vocation of the Person in Christ," "The Pastoral Program for the Family: Various Proposals Underway," "The Pastoral Challenges of the Family," "Difficult Pastoral Situations," "The Pastoral Challenges concerning an Openness to Life," and "The Church and the Family in the Challenge of Upbringing."
