On the eve of the Synod, at the initiative of the Italian Bishops’ Conference, there will be a prayer to "light up the Family" in St. Peter‘s Square and in all the homes
A moment of public prayer and reflection culminating with the intervention of Pope Francis is proposed, on the eve of the approaching Synod on the Family, by National Office for the Pastoral Care of the Family of the Italian Bishops’ Conference. This encounter has been organized for October 4th, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, in St. Peter’s Square. The initiative, in which the Synod Fathers will also take part, will be transmitted by the Vatican Television Center and broadcast live by Tv2000 and other Catholic TV stations. "The first way to participate—says the Director of the office of the Bishops’ Conference, Fr. Paolo Gentili, in the letter of invitation to the vigil, addressed "To those who believe in the family"—will be the encounter in Rome, at St. Peter’s Square. A second way is what we have called "kindle a light in the family." The aim is to gather on that on same evening, throughout the country, domestically at home or as a community in parishes or dioceses, to invoke the Holy Spirit, and put a lighted candle on the windowsill of the houses."
