The Relatio Synodi was presented and voted, one number after the other. An inclusive document where the consensus, in some cases less and in others greater, is notable
On Saturday, October 18th, the Relatio Synodi the III Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on "The Pastoral Challenges on the Family in the Context of Evangelization" was published. Each paragraph of the document was voted on by the 183 Synod Fathers present at the XV General Congregation on Saturday and in three cases the necessary two-thirds majority was not reached.
This concerns paragraphs 52 (communion for divorced and remarried), 53 (concept of spiritual communion) and 55 (homosexuals). "However—said the Director of the Vatican Press Office, Father Federico Lombardi—, the very nature of the Relatiot Synodi is inclusive and so one can speak of a consensus also with respect to these numbers: in fact, thanks to all the votes, we can measure the consensus, that is clear; the size of the consensus—continued Father Lombardi—can be very large or more limited, but it is nevertheless there, indicating the existence of topics that will continue to be matured or deepened because the consensus of the Assembly was not yet ready for the formulation with which they were presented."
