On Thursday, December 12th, 2013, the Supreme Court of Australia declared, by unanimous vote, the marriage between persons of the same sex unconstitutional. Consequently, all the same-sex unions were legalized in recent weeks in Canberra, where the Legislature had expressed a favorable opinion, are annulled. They are, however, recognized civil unions.
