A day designed for families who share their daily life with mentally disabled persons. The event, under the title: “Do not forget me”, is organized for April 8th by the Kairos Forum and the L‘Arche community in Sutton‘s Hospital in Charterhouse, London. This seminar puts the spotlight on an often overlooked aspect of the emotions of people with disabilities: the relationship with death and the loss of loved ones. The speakers include the experts: John Swinton, Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Aberdeen; Irene Tuffrey, nurse researcher at St. George and at Kingston University; Cristina Gangemi of Kairos Forum and members of L‘ Arche. Among the issues at the center of the round table, which will be enriched by testimonials, will be palliative care and the importance of spiritual care for the disabled person who is faced with death, both their own or that of others. The objective is to give the families of the mentally disabled the necessary tools for an inclusive approach, so that they may support them spiritually and emotionally in the face of death, and accompany them in the elaboration of mourning.
