In a meeting with the International Bureau for Children and the Pro-Life Movement, Pope Francis said that “it’s necessary to reaffirm the right of children to grow up in a family with a father and a mother who are able to create a suitable environment for their development... In a well constituted society, privileges must be only for children and the elderly. The future of a people is indeed in their hands! in those of the children, because they certainly have the strength to make history progress, and in those of the elderly, because they bear the wisdom of a people and must transmit it.” Then he added: “Abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes.”
