The Oscar of Reception
"Friends of Children" rewards the Faccardi family in Pisogne, who adopted five Ukrainian siblings
The "Most welcoming family of the year" prize has been awarded to Stefania and Mario Faccardi, who live in Pisogne, a small town of just over 8,000 inhabitants on the shores of Lake Iseo. The association Ai.Bi. (Friends of Children) chose them on account of the record adoption made by the two spouses: they welcomed five Ukrainian siblings together. On January 17th, 2014, four girls—17, 16, 14 and 8 years old—and a boy of 13, all siblings from one family, arrived in the home of Stefania and Mario, transforming their couple into a cheerful and numerous family. Stefania and Mario met in the Ukraine in 2000, when they created, with the collaboration others, the association "Domani-Zavtra", which works to renovate orphanages in the former Soviet republic. The five children come from one of these centers, and Stephanie and Mario met them for the first time in 2010. Last year, the Most welcoming family prize was given to Caterina e Antonino Vinci di Messina. This year's award has travelled through all of Italy in order to reach its destination for the "birthday" of Aibi's foundation, on January 21st.
