Is the Doctrine Changing?
José Granados’ book Eucaristia y Divorcio Hacia un Cambio de la Doctrina? (BAC, Madrid, 154 pages). Was recently present in Madrid. The author is the Vice-president of the John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family and Consultant to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. Father Granados’ work, which will soon also appear in Italian, focuses on the delicate question of the Eucharist and marriage. At the same time, he presents an in-depth pastoral and theological analysis. Can the Church give communion to the divorced and remarried faithful? This question not only resonated during the recent Synod on the family, but it has almost become the central issue. What is at stake is the doctrine of indissoluble marriage that goes directly back to Jesus. The book deals widely with the issue, including the role of the liturgy in the sacramental life. At the links below you can find the complete translations of the interview granted by the author to the Information Service of the Spanish Episcopal Conference as well as the review by Cardinal Antonio Rouco Varela, Archbishop Emeritus of Madrid, for the Spanish periodical Ecclesia.
