This is the first University Master that introduces the teachings on natural methods of fertility regulation into a university curriculum, with both civil and canonical recognition. This concerns the first level of the two-year cursus (60 CFU), promoted by the Pontifical John Paul II Institute and scheduled for the academic years 2015-2016 and 2016-2017.
Under the title "Fertility and Conjugal Sexuality", the educational approach proposed will, on the one hand, be a concrete response to the invitation of the last Synod to "programs of formation which nourish married life and the importance of the laity providing an accompaniment consisting of a lived testimony" (Lineamenta to the XIV General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops) and, on the other, in the face of progressive privatization and trivialization of sexuality that has imprisoned love in deadly self-satisfaction, rediscover the truth of the full emotional relationship together with its true destiny.
The academic proposal, which provides academic classes and practical training, is based on two main principles: the first is the anthropological vision founded on the great magisterial teachings of Blessed Paul VI, St. John Paul II and Benedict XVI, in particular Humanae vitae, Familiaris Consortio and Deus Caritas Est.
Then, the second is knowledge of fertility, an area in which the students will learn about and reflect on the scientific foundations of the methods of the natural fertility regulation, at different times and in various situations in life, the methodology to accompany the couples, and the different programs of formation in natural methods of fertility regulation (RNF).
