Mercy in the Family, the Antidote to War   versione testuale
Release of the Final Message of the 44th Plenary Assembly of the Bishops of the Congo

The family was mentioned recently in the message released by the Episcopal Conference of the Congo at the end of its 44th Plenary Assembly, held in Brazzaville from 1 to 7 February, which focused on mercy.

After urging the faithful to "take actions to promote peace and justice in the Congo—a country in need of peace—by and avoid all acts of violence and conflict that lead to war, the enemy of progress and of man," the Congolese Bishops indicated a remedy "to today's society, marked by the globalization of indifference, hatred and violence:" mercy practiced around the domestic hearth, recalling that it is within this " nucleus of society and of the Church" that "dialogue, forgiveness, reconciliation, love and mutual patience" are learned, and that in it human life finds its "reference points."
