Families, let's go!
Three months after the publication of Amoris Laetitia, Cardinal Ennio Antonelli, former President of the Pontifical Council for the Family, offers an authoritative reading of Pope Francis' post-synodal Apostolic Exhortation, "on the basis of some questions that can be asked with respect to the document:" What is the pastoral priority? How can marriages be strengthened? Compared to the doctrine and traditional practices (especially in comparison to St. John Paul II's Familiaris Consortio) is there continuity, rupture, or innovation within continuity? The Cardinal also offers a valuable contribution to the philosophical and theological reflection on the moral truth in Amoris Laetitia and, finally, the reasonable proposal of "a spiritual and pastoral path to be offered to people in situations of fragility, which respects the conscience and, at the same time, faithfully witnesses to the truth, without confusing the imperfect good with the evil."
