Amoris Laetitia is a long and important text, the result of a great synod. This is shown by the numerous quotations that Pope Francis introduced; as the Pope says in no. 4 of the document, it is: "both impressive and illuminating."
Such a complex text will certainly call for many studies and analyses of the different aspects and themes that constitute it. The volume published by LEV, Il legame familiare del popolo di Dio (The family relationship of God's people), offers a first analysis of the Apostolic Exhortation in an ecclesiological key, showing connections and consequences that the reflection on the family has for the Church. The book is the result of a seminar organized by the Pontifical Council for the Family, in which twenty experts from around the world participated.
The book gives the readers an overview of Amoris Laetitia, curated by Archbishop Paglia, President of the Pontifical Council for the Family, and two in-depth reports: Family and Membership in the Church Exhortation in Amoris Laetitia (by Fr. Miguel Yanez, SJ, professor of moral theology at the Gregorian University in Rome) and Family and Membership in the Church in the pastoral reality (by Msgr. Luca Bressan, pastoralist of the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy and Episcopal Vicar of Milan).
The volume is completed by the text of a reworking of debate that took place among the participants at the seminar, proposed by Msgr. Pierangelo Sequeri, Dean of the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy and the moderator of the day.
