Cardinal Ennio Antonelli, former president of the Pontifical Council for the Family, after his two books Crisi del Matrimonio ed Eucarestia and Per vivere l’Amoris Laetitia (published by Ares), offers us new reflections on some specific points of the Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation. The following is an extract from the section entitled "Love: The Foundation of Marriage and the Family":
"Marriage does not have society's support. We can see this in the culture of individualism and transience, the insensitive and punitive legal system, harsh economic influences such as youth unemployment, job insecurity, poor access to housing, and the refusal to take into account the family's needs in the organization of work. In this situation, Amoris Laetitia sees authentic human and Christian love as the only force that can save marriage and the family. This love must be placed at the center of the family, as the Second Vatican Council already suggested. Pope Francis himself effectively reiterates this and strongly emphasizes it throughout the Apostolic Exhortation, and especially in chapters IV and V."
