The Family and Women in Mons. Paglia’s Christmas Interventions    versione testuale

Several interventions were made, during these feast days, by the President of the Pontifical Council for the Family, His Excellency Monsignor Vincenzo Paglia.

In the first intervention, an interview for the American Catholic News Service, the President recalled that “the family is the main obstacle to the dictatorship of individualism;” a family closely united and enlivened by Christmas, as His Excellency then maintained in a long interview (available in Italian -  prima parte e seconda parte and French - prima parte e seconda parte ) for the international news agency Zenit.

In his welcoming words in Madrid, this past December 30th, before the traditional Mass in Colon Square on the Feast of the Holy Family of Nazareth, Mons. Paglia chose to further develop this relationship by highlighting how “at Christmas everyone wants to stay with the family, even those who are not Christians. In fact, loneliness is bad for everyone.” This greeting was preceded by an interview with Madrid’s daily newspaper La Razón, in which the President discussed current issues as the de facto homosexual unions and “marriages.”

Finally, in another interview, this time broadcasted by Vatican Radio, His Excellency commented the plight of women in a society where violence is all too common.
