The greeting of the President of the Pontifical Council for the Family at the International Congress in Peru (from 31 May to 1 June)

The President of the Pontifical Council for the Family, Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, greets the participants of the International Congress “The Family in 21st Century: Protecting the Future” (“Familias del Siglo 21: Protegiendo el Futuro”), which is being held in Lima, Peru, from 31 May to 1 June 2013. This Congress is sponsored by the Archdiocesan Commission for the Family and for the defense of life, instituted by the Archbishop of Lima, H. E. Card. Juan Luis Cipriani Thorne, in order to «defend the dignity of the human person in the formation of the family and in defense of life in every dimension».

The aim of the Congress is «to highlight the importance of the family in the 21st century, motivating the participants in the defense of the family founded on the marriage between a man and a woman».

«The family founded on a stable union, socially recognized and protected, between a man and a woman, based on the reciprocity and complementarity of both male and female sexes, open to procreation and to the education of children, to put it simply, the family consisting of a father, a mother and children, is the society’s founding reality and the only one that really ensures relational goods essential to the cohesion and the development of society as a whole», says Msgr. Paglia, among other things, in his message.
