The Massive participation was the biggest anyone can recall in Slovakia since 1989, when the people took to the streets to demand democracy. This is how the media presented the March for Life that was held on Monday, September 23rd, in Kosice, on the initiative of the Slovak Bishops' Conference. Over 60 thousand people marched to say that «the life of every human being is precious and must be protected unconditionally, from conception to natural death» and that «the family founded on marriage between a man and a woman must be sheltered, protected and supported, also for the full accomplishment of the parent’s task to care for the children and educate them».

 

On this occasion, the Slovak Bishops presented a Memorandum, addressed, in particular, to the government leaders, the parliamentarians, the public representatives and decision makers, so that they can animate «systems of consultation and popular participation in order to create social, economic and legal conditions that give support to families in the reception and in the development of children, in particular, with help for families and pregnant women in need, through institutions responsible».
