The Crown of Nazareth
For the families around the world, the Marian prayer inspired by episodes from Jesus’ life in Nazareth
The prayer of intercession for the families around the world is recited every Tuesday evening in Nazareth. Inspired by five stages in Jesus’ life that took place in the city, the crown of Nazareth is composed of five decades of the Hail Mary, the Our Father and the Glory be. The prayer begins with St. Francis of Assisi’s Salutation to the Virgin and concludes with the recitation of the Litany of the Holy Family. The list of contemplations includes the Annunciation of the Angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary (Lk 1:26–31), the Annunciation to Joseph, Spouse of the Virgin Mary (Mt 1:20–23), the life of the Holy Family in Nazareth (Mt 2:19–23), Jesus growth in obedience to his parents (Lk 2:42–43.46…52), and Jesus proclaiming the Kingdom of God in Nazareth (Lk 4:16–19.28–30).
