A diocesan meeting will bring together catechists and leaders to reflect on the delicate topic of the formation of new families for renewed evangelization. This event, organized by the Diocese of Raleigh, North Carolina, will be held at St. Raphael Church, the town’s parish, on September 6th. Among other speakers, including the Bishop, Msgr. Michael F. Burbidge, the Undersecretary of the Pontifical Council for the Family, Msgr. Carlos Simon Vazquez, will give a lecture.
The path leading to the creation of the XVI Meeting of the Diocese of Raleigh for catechists and leaders has been particularly rich and complex. An exchange of ideas and programs was preceded by a preparatory phase aimed at bringing forth, through dialog between the dioceses’ families and their Bishop, guidelines and orientations that will be presented and discussed on September 6th.
Indeed, in recent months, always with this date in mind, the Hispanic Ministry of the Diocese of Raleigh—fully experiencing the true spirit of the International Year of the Family and the forthcoming Extraordinary Synod dedicated to it—has implemented a program open to all contributions, under the title: “New Families in the Light of the Word and the Magisterium.” From the outset, the pillars of this shared exploration were intended to be clear: Holy Scripture and the more authoritative documents of the Church.
