The debate over Communion for the remarried remains inflamed. The thesis of Cardinal Kasper, who spoke out, in an interview with "The Commonweal", in favor of giving Communion to the remarried, has been publicly criticized, among others, by Cardinals Gerhard Ludwig Müller, Charles Caffara, Velasio De Paolis and Walter Brandmüller. A few days ago, the latter, President Emeritus of the Pontifical Committee of Historical Sciences, dedicated to this issue a second intervention, which has been published in Italian on a website of theological reflection.
