The 20th Asia-Pacific Congress on "Faith, Life and Family", sponsored by Human Life International in cooperation with the Section for family of the Chinese Regional Bishops' Conference, was held from 27 to 30 November 2015 in Hsinchu, Taiwan.
The President of the Pontifical Council gave the introductory lecture and presided the first two Eucharistic celebrations. Before a large audience from more than twenty countries around the world, Archbishop Paglia situated the theme of life in a dual frame that enriches it and gives it its full meaning.
He first put into correlation life and the family, saying that all apostolate of life necessarily implies pastoral care for the family, in a truly positive bond for overcoming the solipsistic temptation that marks contemporary man.
Secondly, Msgr. Paglia said that the defense of life must be conducted at 360°: only in this way can it become fruitful and effective. In this regard, the President enunciated three specific points on which the attention to human life must be focused and supported: the status of women, the abolition of the death penalty, and care for the environment.
