The Church? God’s Family   versione testuale
In Ghana, the Second Plenary Assembly of the Bishops of West Africa will be held during the last week of February

From 22 to 29 February, the Bishops of RECOWA-CERAO, the West African Regional Bishops Conference, will meet for their second Plenary Assembly, on the theme "The New Evangelisation and its specific challenges for the Church, Family of God in West Africa: Reconciliation, Development, and Family Life ".

More than 150 cardinals, archbishops, bishops and representatives of various ecclesial institutions from 15 African countries are expected to participate in this meeting, organized in Accra (Ghana). Among them, there will also be important guests: Ghana's current President, John Dramani Mahama, the former Presidents Jerry Rawlings and John Kufou, the country’s Apostolic Nuncio, as well as representatives of other Christian Churches and some Muslim religious leaders.
This second Plenary Assembly resumes the legacy of the first Plenary, held in 2012, on the theme "The Church, God's Family, in West Africa in service to reconciliation, justice and peace", in fact always saw the Church present as God's Family. The 2012 meeting was particularly inspired by Benedict XVI's post-synod Apostolic Exhortation "Africae Munus." That text summed up the Second Synod on Africa and pushed the Bishops of RECOWA-CERAO to strive to overcome all forms of division and obstacles in the Church, society and families, in the name of "the common good, subsidiarity and collaboration, the key-factors of the episcopal mission in the region."
