The 10th Assembly of the Churches in the Central African Region was dedicated to the family. The Episcopal Conferences of the Central Africa decided to dedicate their triennial General Assembly to the theme of family.
Sixty Bishops, coming from Chad, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, the Central African Republic and Congo Brazzaville, along with many lay people and priests engaged in family pastoral care, spent a week reflecting on the current situation of the family institution in Central Africa. They reread the African traditions in the light of the Christian faith, highlighted resources, efforts and challenges, and revitalized some specific and urgent pastoral choices.
As the assembly worked, they kept in mind the coming Synod of Bishops, about which the President of the Pontifical Council for the Family, Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, spoke in his intervention.
The themes and objectives of the meeting are presented in two exclusive interviews, the first with the President of ACERAC, Msgr. Louis Portella Mbuyu, Bishop of Kinkala, and the second with the Secretary-General, Fr. Mesmin Prosper Massengo.
