"Thank you, Pope Montini!"
His Holiness recalled with gratitude the creation of the Assembly of Bishops in his homily at the Mass on October 19th that concluded the Extraordinary Synod and during which Pope Paul VI was beatified
"On this day of the Beatification of Pope Paul VI, I think of the words with which he established the Synod of Bishops: 'by carefully surveying the signs of the times, we are making every effort to adapt ways and methods… to the growing needs of our time and the changing conditions of society' (Apostolic Letter Motu Proprio Apostolica Sollicitudo)." Pope Francis spoke with these stirring words of appreciation and gratitude to the faithful in St. Peter's Square, on Sunday, October 19th, during his homily at the Mass for the conclusion of the Extraordinary Synod on the Family, in the course of which the Servant of God, Paul VI, was beatified. The Holy Father, after having underlined the constant comfort the Assembly of the Extraordinary Synod received from the Holy Spirit in the past days, then addressed himself directly to Pope Montini, saying a heartfelt "Thank you!": "When we look to this great Pope, this courageous Christian, this tireless apostle, we cannot but say in the sight of God a word as simple as it is heartfelt and important: thanks! Thank you, our dear and beloved Pope Paul VI! Thank you for your humble and prophetic witness of love for Christ and his Church!"
