Pope Francis stressed the role of women as the first witnesses of the Resurrection and they show comparatively with men greater readiness:

«The apostles and disciples find it harder to believe. The women don’t.In the Gospels, women have a primary, fundamental role. Here we can see an element in favor of the historicity of the Resurrection: if it were an invented fact, in the context of that time, it wouldn’t have been connected to the testimony of women. The evangelists instead simply say what happened: the women are the first witnesses. This means that God doesn’t choose according to human criteria: the first witnesses of the birth of Jesus are the shepherds, simple and humble people; the first witnesses of the Resurrection are women. And this is beautiful. And this is a bit the woman’s mission, that of mothers, of women! To give witness to their children, to their grandchildren, that Jesus is alive, that He is the one who lives, that He has risen. Moms and women, go ahead with this witness! What counts for God is the heart, when we are open to Him, and if we are like trusting children. Yet, this also makes us reflect on how women, in the Church and in the journey of faith, have had and continue to have today a special role in opening the doors to the Lord, following Him and communicating his Face, because the eyes of faith always need the simple and profound look of love».
