In his meeting with Nuncios in the Clementine Hall, last Friday June 21st, the Pontiff recalled the centrality of Love and Communion with Jesus Christ, of authentic closeness to one another, with the “non-formal”, “familiar” affection “of the heart”. Pope Francis said: «The Goods, the prospects of this world end up disappointing people, they push them to never be satisfied; the Lord is the good that doesn’t disappoint. The only one that isn’t disappointing. And this demands self-detachment that can only be achieved through a constant relationship with the Lord and the unification of one’s life around Christ. And this is called familiarity with Jesus. The familiarity with Jesus Christ must be the daily food of the Papal Representative, because it’s the nourishment that comes from the memory of our first encounter with Him, and also because it’s the daily expression of loyalty to His call». This familiarity with Jesus resides «in prayer, celebration of the Eucharist, in the service of charity» and «in always doing everything with deep love».
