Uganda: The Hosptitals Say “No”
Catholic Healthcare facilities guarantee care for all regardless of the anti-homosexual laws
Catholic Healthcare facilities will not discriminate against homosexual patients, regardless of the anti-homosexual law. Sam Orach, physician and executive secretary of the Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau said that even if homosexuality is criminalized, as is now planned in legislation (the constitutionality of which is being debated), catholic hospitals would continue to guarantee health care to homosexuals. “Catholic Healthcare services are not discriminatory against anyone”, Orach said. The Catholic Healthcare System in Uganda is composed of 32 hospitals, 249 health centers, and 13 formation institutes for doctors, nurses, obstetricians and laboratory assistants. Catholic Healthcare structures offer antiretroviral therapy to the 12 percent of people HIV positive. For more information>>
